Setting up Bluetooth Printing 

This guide outlines the steps required to enable Bluetooth printing in iLobby. 
 

Requirements 
 

  • iPad or iPad Pro (any size) 
     

  • Guided Access Passcode 
     

  • Brother QL-820NWB label printer 
     

  • administrative access to the iLobby portal 
     

Configuration 
 

Step 1: Enabling Bluetooth on the Printer  
 

  1. Connect the AC power cord to the printer and to the AC adapter. 
     

  1. Plug the power cord into a grounded AC power outlet. 
     

  1. Turn the printer on (press the power button). The status LED turns green. 
     

  1. Press the Menu button. 
     

  1. Press the buttons to select the [Bluetooth] menu, and then press [OK]. 
     

  1. Select [Bluetooth (On/Off)] using the button, and then press [OK]. 
     

  1. Select [On] using the button, and then press [OK]. 
     

  1. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select Bluetooth > Automatic Reconnection > On in the settings menu. Press [OK]. 

  1. Press to go back to the main screen. 
     

Bluetooth has now been enabled on the printer: you should see a icon at the top right corner of the printer’s LCD screen to indicate this. 
 

Step 2: Enabling Bluetooth on the iPad  
 

  1. Turn on the iPad: press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. 
     

  1. Exit Guided Access by triple-tapping the Home button and enter the appropriate passcode. 
     

  1. Tap End (at the top left). 
     

  1. Tap the Home button to return to the Home Screen. 
     

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth On. 
     

  1. Tap the print (Label Printer in the Devices list to connect. (The printer will have as its name something like QL-820NWBxxxx.) 
    Bluetooth has now been enabled on the iPad, and a connection to the printer has been established. 

Step 3: Enable Bluetooth in the iLobby Portal 
 

  1. Navigate to https://portal.goilobby.com/ and login using your iLobby credentials. 
     

  1. Tap  button, then tap Configuration. 
     

  1. Select the appropriate Site for which you would like to have Bluetooth printing enabled. 
     

  1. On the Features tab, enable Badge Printing (if disabled). 
    Note: If Badge Printing is already enabled, press . 

  1. On the pop-out menu, set the Connection Method to Bluetooth. 
     

  1. Tap Save (at the bottom of the screen). 
     

Step 4: Confirm Bluetooth Printing Functionality 
 

  1. Open the iLobby app on the iPad. 
    Note: If the app is already running, restart it by double-clicking the Home button and then swiping up on the iLobby window to close it. 

  1. Proceed through the sign-in process as a test visitor. 
    A badge should be printed at the end of the sign-in process. 

  1. Lock the iPad back into Guided Access by triple-tapping the Home button (tap Start at the top right if prompted).
